Get a sneak peek of new spring and summer fashions for one truly amazing cause!

Friday, April 19th, join Body Elements for day filled with fun to benefit Tigerlily Foundation, a national breast cancer foundation providing education, awareness, advocacy and hands-on support to young women ages 15 through 40 – before, during and after breast cancer. The event will feature a fashion show, with local celebrity models (Mrs. DC America 2013, Meagan Barnes, WUSA 9 sports anchor Kristen Berset, Mikell Caroll, Mrs. Northwest DC, and Sarah Hillware, former America’s Miss DC) and local breast cancer survivors who will be wearing designs from The Doncaster Collection in Falls Church, VA and Undeniable Boutique in Fairfax, VA. Not only are you contributing to the cause by buying your ticket, but you can also feel good while you shop ‘til you drop since 10% of the clothing sales from the event are going to Tigerlily Foundation!

Why am I supporting?

Recently, I received my family medical history papers in the mail. The papers stated, “The specific mutation present in your family history is described as BRCA1, C64G,” which is the genetic term for the “hereditary breast and ovarian cancer” (HBOC) gene. While this is scary news for me, I know that PREVENTION and EMPOWERMENT at the physician’s office is lifelong! My aunt, who is a two-time survivor of breast cancer, is my inspiration. Health to me is not about physical beauty, but about being able to live a life of quality. I know that my health and quality of life is in my own hands. I am confident that I have the tools necessary to help reduce my risk of developing cancer and I encourage other young women to learn their family history and practice prevention. Knowing that there are organizations like Tigerlily helping to educate, empower, as well as provide services to women living with breast cancer is a comfort to strong, resilient, proactive women (and some men) everywhere.

About Tigerlily Foundation: Tigerlily was founded by Maimah Karmo, after she was diagnosed with breast cancer at 32 years old. She chose to name the organization Tigerlily because like a flower loses its petals in the Fall and Winter, then blossoms and grows in the Spring and Summer, a woman undergoing treatment can also find her true beauty, strength and be transformed during and after breast cancer. Like a woman, lilies are never dormant. They bloom and survive in all seasons. That is her and our wish for the young women they serve.
